Installing Workdek for ultimate efficiencies and safety
The components that make up the Workdek system are lightweight and easy to install. Yet once locked into place, they’re super-strong and sturdy. Then builders can move anywhere on a work site with full confidence because Workdek prevents the fall and makes light work of building work.
Unpack and Prepare
Make sure you wear your protective gear and complete a risk assessment and method statement. Speak to your supervisor, line manager or site manager to ensure your Method Statement has been amended.
Once unpacked, stack your panels, legs, base and head plates, securing pins, and cam/securing straps in the area where you are installing the platform.
Ensure you are trained to install Workdek. Once trained, check that you have the correct information about your site. Also be certain that all components are defect-free, that it is safe to work on your site, including the removal of any debris.
Install Workdek
There are key steps to installing Workdek correctly. We have summarised these below, however, please refer to our installation manual for full instructions.
- Assemble all components
- Ensure you use the correct Workdek erection technique
- Complete a pre-handover inspection
- Complete the inspection routine
- Check for any faults or damage
Pack down and storage
When uninstalling Workdek and returning the components to their storage area, check there is no damage or defects
- Set aside any damaged or defective parts to avoid further use
- Panels can be pallet stored 25 panels high. Secure these with strapping
- Secure the legs (with base and head plates left on) with strapping into 8x8 packs
- Place all securing pins and cam/securing straps into suitable containers and store in a dry place
